Temperatures are plummeting as we near the end of the year and while we’re unlikely to feel snowflakes on our faces here in Dubai, we can still experience the magic of wintertime at BurJuman’s award-winning “A Very Brr…Juman Winter” event.
BurJuman’s winter celebrations take place until January 6 and the mall is filled with fun winter activities, so why not take the family walking in a Winter Wonderland?
The snow fight zone is a big hit, with children playing in flurries of falling snow
Head to the mall any day between 3pm and 10pm to experience the festivities of the season, but prepare to be wowed by the effect, which includes everything from regularly scheduled snowfall to the magical Teddy Bear Tree and the roaming BurJuman Teddy Bear mascot.
“We wanted to create an atmosphere to transport BurJuman shoppers into an enchanted, glittering world, to entrance them by decorating the entire mall in winter-themed décor,” said BurJuman Management.
With snowflakes, glittering lights, regular snowfall and a tall Teddy Bear Tree, BurJuman is ready to embrace the spirit of the festive season
All month long, there are plenty of winter-themed photo opportunities for both the young and young-at-heart.
“At BurJuman, we know the festive period is a wonderful season of the year to spend time and make memories with the family. With something for everyone to enjoy, we welcome our community to join us in celebrating the cool winter season” the Management added.
The centre of the action is no doubt on Level 1 in the Main Atrium where visitors of all ages are welcome to lose themselves in a picturesque winter village.
The centrepiece includes the magical 8.4-metre-tall Teddy Bear Tree.

Ten-year-old Mohammad Ahmad from Pakistan, who was at the mall with his parents, was very excited to see the tree. "This looks so unique. I have taken lots of pictures in front of the tree which I will share with my friends."
The Main Atrium also hosts children’s arts and crafts where they can get creative with festive activities including cutting out snowflakes and decorating polar bears.
Children can burn off some energy, exchanging snowballs with each other made from artificial snow. The snow fight zone marks its return with its incredible flurries of falling snow scheduled to take place every 20 minutes.

"Everything looks so festive at BurJuman with lights, teddy bear tree and decorations,” says nine-year old Rehaan Busheri from India.
“I specially loved playing with my sister at the snow park, where I enjoyed snow fall and threw snowballs at each other. We were covered with snow flakes after the snow fight. I also loved the skiing photo booth where my mum clicked pictures of me against a beautiful mountain background," he adds.
Continuing the tour of activities on offer, from there, if you travel to the other side of the mall, you can step into an Augmented Reality Zone and be transported into your very own winter wonderland.
Step into the augmented reality zone to take pictures with a bison or other animals
Just because we live in the desert doesn’t mean we can’t have the experience of being in the North Pole. Mall visitors can immerse themselves in a cool augmented reality experience of being inside a glacier, surrounded by snow and ice. They can step into the display, meet a polar bear, bison, white tiger and a host of birds and take photos – and all this without actually visiting the North Pole!
“The augmented reality zone is very interesting. As you look at the camera and move your hands, animals appear on the screen. They move exactly the way you move. You can virtually talk to them. This is a very interactive experience where you can see how these animals react when you react,” says 15-year old Raj from India.
BurJuman’s Fairytale Carriage Display, also located on the same floor, is the perfect setting to snap a family festive photo and enjoy a picture-perfect moment – or even to get a romantic portrait made.

And while you’re there you can catch up on any present-buying you need to do, or just enjoy time with your children at one of the many restaurants or entertainment options.
“The holiday season at BurJuman is always a fantastic family day out. Pick up the perfect gift and shop for festive essentials at our wide range of stores, catch the latest blockbuster movie at the 14-screen Vox Cinema complex, or explore delicious flavours from around the world at one of BurJuman’s many restaurants and cafes,” said BurJuman Management, “and even do your full weekly shopping whilst you are there, at the Carrefour Hypermarket.”
With so much activity on offer, it’s the perfect place to spend time over the festive season, whether it’s shopping, tucking into some traditional fare or generally hanging out.
BurJuman has a proud 25-year history, as one of Dubai’s first shopping malls, located in the heart of the Bur Dubai heritage area. It was relaunched last year to offer a wide range of new stores including H&M, Forever 21, LC Waikiki, Splash, New Look, Next, Sharaf DG and Magic Planet. They are looking forward to welcoming you!
