Alliance Francaise Dubai is putting on several events throughout the month of Ramadan, starting with Le Contes du Ramadan on May 26.
The event, which begins at 5.30pm at Alliance’s Oud Metha theatre, will feature professional storytellers, who regale children and adults with stories from the Middle East and North Africa. It will be followed by a Moroccan cuisine Iftar at Odeon Cafe.
Tickets are Dh120 for adults, and Dh70 for children.
On May 29, a Naples-set production called Scapin the Schemer (Les fourberies de Scapin) will explore an imagined maritime world at the same theatre. Two sons of authoritarian fathers become embroiled in a tale of revenge, ransom and more. Tickets are Dh40.
On May 9, 23 and 30, L’Amour fou theatre by Morgane Gauvin Drama troupe will take over the venue. The play involves 10 actors, who use words, dance and music to explore love and familial relationships.
The shows are Dh80 for adults, and Dh40 for teens between the age of 14-18.
And on June 26, Le petit maitre corrige will follow a young Parisian boy whose parents find him a match in the Count’s daughter — but the boy can’t open his heart to her. Tickets are Dh40.
