Dubai: Dubai will welcome 25 million visitors from all parts of the world in 2020, and we promise the best ever edition of World Expo in history, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Shaikh Mohammad made the statement in reaction to Dubai’s victory to host World Expo 2020.
“We promised the world that we will inspire, and today, we fulfilled our promise. We also promise the world that we hold true to the theme of Dubai World Expo 2020, ‘Connecting minds, creating the future’. Our region is the place where all cultures and civilisations meet, and hence, our region will regain its cultural role with such initiatives,” said Shaikh Mohammad.
Shaikh Mohammad dedicated Dubai’s victory to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to whom all the credit goes to for this unprecedented achievement in the region.
“Today we celebrate two joyful occasions; the UAE National Day and Dubai’s victory. Our march started with the establishment of the federation, and today, we are heading towards the future. Amid our joy in this win, we renew our pledge of allegiance to our President, Shaikh Khalifa, and we shall keep moving forward towards a new phase of development under his leadership,” added Shaikh Mohammad.
He lauded the great role played by the Foreign Ministry, under the leadership of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for its immense efforts and worldwide campaign to rally support for the UAE’s bid, and the supremacy and competency of Emirati diplomacy.
Shaikh Mohammad thanked the work team tasked with preparing the expo bid, most notably Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman, Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Hosting the World Expo 2020. He expressed his appreciation to all those who supported the UAE. He also thanked members of the committee for their immense efforts, morale and competence.
