Right in the middle of DIFC sits the Italian restaurant Roberto’s. With views of Burj Khalifa, this modern resto bar is ideal for an intimate dining experience. Its chic ambience and non-interfering yet professional attitude of the staff instantly made us feel at ease after a stressful drive to the financial district from New Dubai. Soothing Bossa Nova music from its in-house DJ further set the tone for a fun, relaxing afternoon.

The highlight of its Andiamo brunch is the starters. We were treated to an eye-popping alzatina di pesci, a fresh seafood tower comprising an array of crustaceans and the freshest sea bass, served with our chosen lemon sauce.

We washed it down with the refreshing primavera, a punch of strawberry purée, cranberry juice, peach syrup and fresh lime.

Quickly followed the antipasti. We went for its fritto, a plate of fried calamari, prawns and zucchini.

Next, we tried the ravioli all aragosta, a traditional pasta with lobster and zucchini. Fresh and delicious, the ravioli was simply a joy at every bite. Finally, it was time for the main course — costata all griglia, grilled tomahawk steak with mixed vegetables. The meat was succulent and flavourful.

Then we had the dolcetti fatti in casa, a selection of Italian dessert, gelato and petit four, perfect for closing a heavy brunch.

We loved alzatina di pesci. It is a seafood lover’s dream.

We hated Roberto’s location. It could get a little confusing to find the restaurant, if you are relying only on the GPS.

Verdict Roberto’s has taken the Italian concept of fine dining to a whole new level, serving the rich, traditional Mediterranean cuisine in a chic, cosmopolitan environment.
