Wednesday
Ivan Smagghe @ Trilogy
The Wanted crew raise the midweek bar with the French hipster. Smagghe manages to combine electro, techno and filthy leftfield into a neat package that has seen him move from record shop worker to one of the "coolest" DJs in the world. The only place to be tonight.
Thursday
Jori Hulkkonen @ iBO
The last Wasta night takes place at iBO with the ever innovative sounds of Hisham Samawi and Finnish house don, Jori Hulkkonen. The Finn specialises in minimal, deep house, so this is a night for the connoisseurs. Let's hope Wasta can find a new home soon.
Tom Middleton @ The Apartment
Middleton destroyed The Apartment's dance floor last time round, with a set that encompassed everything from twisted house to old-school hip-hop. The Jedi Knight is now booked in for a monthly gig, so you have no excuse not to check him out in the coming months.
Ashley Casselle @ Trilogy
The Global Underground behemoth rolls into town for more progressive house shenanigans, this time courtesy of Ashley Casselle. The UK spinner is known for his warm, funky sets that take in everything from breaks to trance. This being Dubai, expect him to veer towards the commercial.
Friday
Felix Da Housecat @ Trilogy
A legendary Chicago house producer, Felix is one of the few US house producers not to get stuck in a weren't-the-old-days-great rut. He was one of the pioneers of the electroclash movement and veers from twisted electro to dubbed out filtered house in his sets. Don't miss this one.
Tocadisco @ Peppermint
Peppermint goes down the commercial route with German spinner Tocadisco. This should be rammed with those who think Felix is too "underground".
Stereo
The Opensouls: The Opensouls EP (Mukatsuku)
Very collectable, very funky leftfield grooves from Japan. The Mukatsuku imprint is about as cool as it gets right now and this release harks back to an era of Afros, platform shoes and music that would fill any dance floor.
Clyde Feat. Capitol A: Broken Slang (Mantis)
As retro as it gets, this manages to combine funky vocals, a killer bass line and some funky grooves. The ultimate hip shaker, the Atjazz boys manage to chill things out a bit on the flip without ever losing the urgency of the original. Top notch stuff.
