A brief look at some of the entertainment lined up for New Year's Eve

Parisian extravaganza

Le Meridien Dubai will bring in the New Year with Parisian Extravaganza 3. From 9pm, nine international artists will keep guests entertained all through the night on Friday.

Enjoy a lavish buffet priced at Dh660 net per person with unlimited house beverages. Some of the acts during the evening include Tom Shanon from Moulin Rouge with a comic act, roller and laser show; Statue — a statue show with performers from Las Vegas; Victor and Natalia, the international balance show; Slipchenko, an act of three international trapeze artists; Le Guilloux, a magic show, and the Lighter Side band.

DJ Benny Benassi in Dubai

DJ Benny Benassi will make a stop during his world tour to rock Dubai this New Year's Eve. He will perform as part of a party taking place at the Lodge.

Born in Italy, he collaborates and produces with his cousin Alle.

Their first project Benny Benassi presents The Biz, a mixture of electro, techno and house, got them worldwide popularity. Their first album Hypnotica saw its first single Satisfaction spend over a month at No 1 on France's official dance chart and achieved similar results over the rest of Europe and the world.

Tickets for the show, presented by Oxygen Productions, will be sold at all Virgin Megastores and Hallmark outlets.

DJ Lucci's soulful music

DJ Lucci, resident DJ for six years at Manumission, the club nights at Bar M, Ibiza's is headlining at MIX Beach Mardi Gras this New Year's Eve.

Lucci is considered one of the top house DJs with his blend of deep soulful house, funky house, and tec-house music. This Friday, Lucci will be playing the summer's hottest house tracks. DJ Eddie will be playing the R&B and Hip Hop from 2004. The tickets are priced at Dh500 for the evening at the Grand Hyatt, Dubai.

Dance the night away

Say goodbye to the old and hello to the New Year at Zinc, Crowne Plaza Dubai. The resident DJ and live band will build the vibe for the last night of 2004. There is a Dh100 cover charge before 10pm and Dh150 after 10pm. To secure a table, book for dinner at Dh333 per person, which includes entrance and the dining experience.

Cruising on the high seas

Future Nights present the New Year's Eve on what it says is the biggest ship in the Middle East. The ship, Merdif 1, will leave from Port Rashid at 9pm on Friday and will be back at 6am the next day.

The tickets, available at all Virgin Megastores in the UAE and Hallmark outlets, are priced at Normal — Dh395; First class — Dh595; VIP — Dh995 and VVIP — Dh8,000. The VVIP tickets are very limited and include a luxury room for four persons.

Asian night

Dubai's Asian New Year's Eve — The Party 2004-05 — features DJ Akbar Sami, DJ Nasha, DJ Akhtar, DJ Amit and Bandish Projekt. The party will take place at the Dubai Rugby Exiles Club (Al Awir) and the tickets are priced at Premium Single — Dh375; Premium Couple — Dh675; VIP Single — Dh575 and VIP Couple — Dh975.

Children below 10 are allowed free in special children's play area only.

Enjoy the remix magic

The Nad Al Sheba Club Lawns, Dubai, will witness Instant Jalwa on Friday evening. The event, staged by 4 Events, will mark the first joint act between three of the leading Indian DJs worldwide — Partners in Rhyme from UK, DJ Farhad of Instant Karma & Desi Boyz from India, and DJ Megha.

The tickets, priced at Couple — Dh420; Single — Dh250 and Child — Dh120, are available at Spinneys and the Nad Al Sheba Club.

Udit Narayan live

On Friday evening, Indian singer Udit Narayan (left) will entertain Dubai fans with his melodious voice at a concert at the World Trade Centre Exhibition Hall. Having sung in 2,600 movies in 15 Indian languages and having done about 1,050 stage shows in numerous countries, Narayan needs no introduction.

He will perform with wife Dipa Narayan Jha at a show supported by musicians and dancers, hosted by former Miss World Yukta Mookhey, and organised by M&M Entertainment in association with Z&J Consulting.

Also, DJ Notorious will come down from Mumbai to present his brand of music, mixing both Hindi and English. Alongwith DJ Ash — former resident DJ at Mumbai nightclub The Mikonos — DJ Notorious will have the crowd grooving until the wee hours of the morning.
