I have something for everyone, says Dubai-based designer Ayesha Depala. She showcased her Spring/Summer 2005 collection in New Delhi, India, recently
Dubai-based designer Ayesha Depala showcased her Spring/Summer 2005 collection at a fashion show held on the terrace of the Thai Wok restaurant in New Delhi, India, recently.
Her collection featured long flowing tops paired with jeans or fluid chiffon trousers and dupattas and saris teamed with jeans for a funky, informal look.
The garments were embellished with bows, beads, sequins, crystals and delicate French lace and the palette was soft and subtle with pale ochres, mauves, beiges, greens and purple accentuated with silver.
The show was attended by well-known personalities such as politicians Farooq Abdullah and Sachin Pilot with his wife Sarah Abdullah Pilot, designers Tarun Tahiliani and Manish Arora and guests who flew in from Dubai, London and Spain.
Successful show
After this successful show, Ayesha has been invited to present her next collection at the Lakme India Fashion Week.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ayesha has studied fashion design at Central St Martins School of Fashion in London and the London College of Fashion.
She launched her signature line Ayesha Depala in 2002 and creates both prêt and couture lines. She owns a boutique in Delhi and moved to Dubai after her marriage to Dubai businessman Dipesh Depala.
The designer shuttles between her homes in London, Dubai and India, thus keeping her finger on the pulse of the global fashion scene.
Among her loyal clients are Indian actresses Rekha and Karisma Kapoor. "I design for the modern woman who appreciates style and quality and have something for everyone in my collections," says Ayesha.
Boutique in Dubai
"My husband Dipesh has been a great source of support and encouragement and we are excited about the invitation to the India Fashion Week. We also hope to open a boutique in Dubai soon," she added.
