Documents Required: Applicants for a student visa are requested to bring the following documents in triplicate:

1. Three completely filled in and signed application forms. You can find the application form either on the internet (www.switzerland.ae) or at the Swiss Consulate/Embassy. The legal guardian must sign for children under 18.

2. Three recent passport-sized pictures (not older than 6 months).

3. The original and a copy of the passport of the applicant with all its valid visas and residence permits. The passport has to be valid for at least three months over the foreseen entry date in Switzerland.

4. Original and three copies of the acquired diplomas/certificates.

5. Attestation from the Swiss school that the applicant is expected to study in.

6. Proof of payment that the tuition fee has been paid.

7. Proof of sufficient financial means for the cost of living in Switzerland for the duration of the schooling. If the education lasts more than one year, a full year's proof of sufficient financial means must be presented.

8. A CV mentioning one's education including career intentions after the study in Switzerland.
If the applicant is a minor, the legal guardian must provide the documents 4 to 7 and add the following documents:

9. Parental consent and insurance of overtaking all expenses signed by the legal guardian.

10. A company letter from the employer of the legal guardian on a proper letterhead duly stamped and with the name and position of the signatory. Please note that the legal guardian cannot sign his/her own letter. The letter must contain the following information: date of joining the company, position and the salary.

11. A copy of the trade licence from the company of the legal guardian.(If applicable)

12. Statement concerning your address in Switzerland.

  • The residence permit will only be issued if your financial means are guaranteed. In addition, you will have to renew the residence permit annually. Foreign students are allowed to work up to 15 hours a week as long as the duration of the studies is not prolonged.
  • Only the immigration officers or the Swiss Federal or Cantonal authorities are competent to ultimately accept or deny visa applications.
