It’s the start of the week – you might be wrangling with Sunday blues, slightly cranky over how fast the weekend went by. Don’t worry, our early-week crosswords are just what you need to shake off that post-weekend ennui!

Press Start to play today’s crossword right away.

Gulf News’ crosswords are easiest at the start of the week, get slightly tougher on Wednesday, lead to an even trickier Thursday, and finish with the large, challenging Weekend Crossword on Friday. So play from the beginning of the week and you’ll find the pace quite stimulating.

The word stimulating also applies to today’s crossword, which gives you insight into how popular brands got their names. We see and experience brands everywhere. Whether it’s a check mark or the colours red, white and blue in a sphere, some multinational brands are so well known, we can identify them by just their logos. But how did their names come to be?

You’ll be surprised to find that a global tech company’s name comes from a creek behind the cofounder’s house (7-Across). And a well-known carbonated drink is named after a digestive enzyme (14-Across)!

Have fun with today’s puzzle and let us know if you guessed all the answers at games@gulfnews.com.
