L-U-V Madonna, Y-O-U, You wanna! Yep, Madge is hitting up AD and yours truly will be front and centre to catch her for (mini boast here!) the third time in concert. Believe me, girlfriend knows how to put on a show. Oh, and if you're going, and our very own six-footer, Nyree, happens to be standing in front of you - be nice about it, okay! This weekend I'll be hitting the beach E-A-R-L-Y (that Madonna - soooo influential!) to catch some not-too-scorching rays, before brekkie at Shakespeare & Co at Marina Mall - I always have blueberry pancakes and hash browns. The mall is getting better every time I go, and once Iconic is open, all I'll need is a Topshop and I'll never go anywhere else. I'm also treating my nails to a mani/pedi at The Nail Spa, Ibn Battuta and making time for my fave Americano at Starbucks - did you know the outlet in the Persian quarter made the UK Guardian newspaper's ‘Top 10 Most Unusual Fast Food Restaurants' list? Oh and PS, Men In Black 3? Loved it! The twist? I nearly cried!

Now that there’s an American Idol-shaped void in my life, I may have to venture out on Thursday night (only a few months until X Factor US, however, and with added Britney!), and so I’ve arranged to have drinks with girlfriends at Trader Vics in the Crowne Plaza. This was my classic when I first moved to Dubai six years ago, and it’s about time I had a rematch with the Tiki Puka Puka (and try a touch of salsa – the dance, not the dip, although I won’t say no if it comes my way). Friday I’m having a mall day – starting with errands (snore), but ending up with 21 Jump Street. Am sooooo excited, I love a com-action (as in comedy action). Saturday I’m going back to my British roots (my Mum’s Scottish) and trekking along to the Boulevard at Emirates Towers to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. They’re holding a ‘street’ party with afternoon tea, games and more. Mid-week you’ll probably find me vacuuming, cooking or just chilling, but all while listening to BBC Woman’s Hour podcasts. I’m so rock’n’roll.

Obviously, I was thrilled to bits that my fave Phillip Phillips was crowned champion of American Idol, but I’m already suffering withdrawl symptoms! No matter – I have plenty to keep myself bouncing around like a loon this coming weekend – the first thing being my long-planned ski lessons, which kick off at Ski Dubai. Quite how I have managed to have avoid this for so many years is a mystery, but since the weather has got insanely hot, I can’t think of a better way to cool off than covering myself in bruises as I attempt to find my ski-legs. After that, I’ll be off to watch The Avengers (yes, I know I’m probably the last person in the UAE to see it, but better late than never, right?) before heading home to practise my Vogue in time for Sunday’s epic Madonna concert in Abu Dhabi. Just one dilemma – what Madonna-inspired outfit to strike a pose in?

It’s staycation time for me this weekend, and I’m packing my bags and checking into The Ritz-Carlton DIFC. This evening we’ll be enjoying dinner and drinks at Thai Restaurant Blue Rain, and I’ve heard their Stir-fried soft shell crab is amazing! Tomorrow I’m having a real treat and checking myself in for a massage, and then I’m predicting a day by the pool; I’m thinking it might be one of the last sessions before the summer arrives. On Friday night we’ll be eating at Centre Cut Steak Restaurant and then spend the evening chilling out on the Shisha Terrace. Come Sunday I’ll be heading up to Abu Dhabi – you might not have heard, but this small-time indie act called ‘Madonna’ is coming into town to sing a few songs and dazzle with her horrendous amounts of energy! I’ve been practising my Vogue since I booked my tickets.
