Comedies have become the norm in Bollywood with the successful Golmaal, Dhamaal, Dhol and Golmaal Returns. Paritosh Painter's Paying Guest is another installment in the 'foursome fun' category.
Paying Guest revolves around four guys (Talpade, Jaffery, Chaudhary and Seth), whose house hunting takes them through a series of comic hurdles. Their search ends when they meet a crazy landlord Ballu (Lever) and his hilarious wife (Paul). But there is a condition.
They'll only rent their house to married couples. Desperate, two of the guys (Talpade and Jaffery) disguise themselves as the wives of Seth and Chaudhary. This triggers a comedy of errors that revolves around mistaken identities.
Thanks to Talpade's comic timing he has become a safe bet in comedies in recent years. "Paying Guest is a total riot and it is always special to do a film with Subhash Ghai, who launched my career in Iqbal and later gave me Apna Sapna Money Money, which made me a commercially-viable actor," he said.
The film is packed with solid comedians such as Asrani, Pandey and Lever, who will be seen in their first funny roles for a long time. Paying Guest has its share of glamour in Neha Dhupia, Riya Sen and Celina Jaitley. Ex-Miss India, Sayali Bhagat will look at carving a niche for herself among this crowd of stars.
Ghai seems confident with Paying Guest even after Yuvvraaj bombed at the box office. "Raju Farooqi's association with Mukta Arts has resulted in three back-to-back hits with Aitraaz, 36 China Town and Apna Sapna Money Money. We're more than delighted to have his name associated with Paying Guest and hope to continue the winning streak," he said.
