Battle of the directors
It looks like Ashutosh Gowarikar is trying to hog the limelight at award functions by making statements that are politically incorrect.
The first incident was at the Screen Awards, where he was angry with the host of the show Sajid Khan for his not-so-funny jabs at the film fraternity. Now, Gowariker has made headlines himself at the recently held IFFA awards, where he announced on stage that Priyanka Chopra did not deserve to get the Best Actress trophy for Fashion, and that it should've been awarded to Aishwarya Rai instead for her film Jodhaa Akbar.
Priyanka, hats off to her, sat through the embarrassing moment without flinching, but that didn't stop Madhur Bhandarkar, the director of Fashion from chipping in later on.
"I'm shocked at Ashutosh's statement. All of us can have an opinion, but why take it to a public event? If he thought she didn't deserve the award, he could've spoken to us. Priyanka is a friend and she has worked hard on the film. I look at this remark as a great insult to the entire Fashion team," he says. If Ashutosh doesn't think much of Priyanka's talent, then how come he has her as his leading lady in his next directorial venture What's My Rashee?
Lara shifts focus from Dino
Lara Dutta's reel life might not be doing too well, but her real life is definitely causing a stir. After her break-up with Kelly Dorjee, she was linked with Dino Morea. But the latest gossip is that she has now moved on to a sports star. It's the tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi that she's taken a fancy to! And, yes, he is a married man, although his marriage is supposedly on the rocks. The two are of course denying the rumours. By the way, not so long ago, he was also spotted with Raima Sen at a nightclub. Looks like Mahesh, the sportsman that he is, is playing the field!
