Sachin's Bollywood debut
With his success graph in the cricketing world heading south, Sachin Tendulkar has decided to give Bollywood a try. According to latest reports, the master batsman will make his big screen debut in a Vighnaharta Shri Siddhivinayak production. All that producer Rajiv Sanghvi was willing to reveal was, "He will play a small role, as himself either in a song sequence or in an actual scene."
However, Sachin should remember that before him there have been several cricket stars who were bitten by the acting bug. None of them tasted much success. It wouldn't for him to look into other career options as well.
Shah Rukh's other ongoing duel
Salman Khan is not the only actor battling Shah Rukh Khan. King Khan is involved in another duel with Aamir Khan. But this one isn't personal or physical. It's about endorsements. Yes, move over Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni and Amitabh Bachchan, the Khans have become TV's most ubiquitous personalities.
From cars to cell phones and biscuits, the two actors are everywhere. According to ad gurus, if one firm signs one of the celebs, it is a given that a rival company will take the other one on board. People may not enjoy seeing the same two faces throughout the day, but the stars are simply raking it in.
Sridevi's career choice
Former Bollywood queen Sridevi has refused an offer from Yash Chopra, who sought to cast her opposite Amitabh Bachchan in a film he planned to direct. According to a source, this was her husband Boney Kapoor's decision. "Boney told Yash that he was keen to relaunch his wife in his own film, and it would be better if Yash could look for another actress instead," the source said.
But, Chopra had set his mind on Sridevi, and has now decided to shelve the project. Some of Sridevi's biggest hits have been with Boney Kapoor (Mr India, Judaai) and the Yash Raj banner (Chandni, Lamhe). Let's hope she has made a wise choice.
Shahid's hat-trick
Shahid Kapur is out to prove that he does not need Kareena Kapoor to get ahead in the industry. In an interview with an Indian daily, the actor claimed that his latest film Kismat Konnection connected better with movie-goers than Jab We Met, in which he starred with his then-girlfriend Kareena.
"Kismat... received a better response than JWB. The perception that it has not done well has been created by critics. In due course, the figures will come out and you will know. Vivaah, another one of my films, got terrible reviews, but ran for 48 weeks." If Shahid is right, he has just scored a hat-trick. So, what is your formula for success, Shahid? A different star link-up for each new movie?
Bad boy image costs Salman plenty
It seems like Salman has lost plenty because of his battle with Shah Rukh Khan. Rumour mills have it that after his much-publicised brawl with Shah Rukh at Kaif's birthday bash, Katrina has decided to walk out on him. Katrina is upset that as the host of the party, Salman did not behave properly.
The macho man is well known for his bad boy behaviour. It seems that after having faced severe consequences for his terrible public and private demeanour, he has not learnt his lesson. If common friends of Kat and Sallu are to be believed, he had it coming for quite a while.
Apparently, he was trying to direct Katrina's career and the pretty young thing, who has tasted a lot of success recently, would have none of it. "He had objections to Katrina's choice of films, her co-stars and the outfits she wore for some films," revealed a friend.
