In Santa Monica earlier this month, Angelina Jolie — one of Hollywood's yummiest mummies — was spotted plucking outfits from Stella McCartney's exclusive range for GapKids.

Reports suggest that she spent more than $500 (Dh1,836) stocking up on McCartney's Junk Food T-shirts and watches for her six-member brood. Closer to home in the Middle East, you can do the same — take a strand from Jolie's shopping jaunt and dial up your kids' style quotient.

The British designer will help you in your quest to transform your tiny tots into mini style icons with her collection, in stores now. McCartney, a mother of three and the daughter of former Beatle Paul McCartney, has designed a playful yet practical collection for girls aged from 6 months to 12 years.

Think of a girlish tulle tutu or front smock dress paired with over-sized grey hoodie sweater, and you are halfway into McCartney's miniature collection. The environment-friendly designer admits that her foray into this market is not all fun and games.

"One of the biggest challenges I think, is how needs change within the age span that we are doing.

"You have newborn, which is completely specific, then you are dressing a kid. You need to think about the mindset as a parent dressing your child, and then all of a sudden, the child is dressing herself/himself. I'm hoping we managed to get that balance," says McCartney.

Navigating through different ages was easier said than done.

"It's quite hard designing for all those ages, because somebody dressing themselves as a teenager and somebody being dressed as a toddler by a parent are really two completely different mindsets," she adds.

By launching a junior line, Stella McCartney joins the ranks of…
