Delving into DIFC, one of Dubai's best kept socialising secrets
Look beyond the business suits, power lunches and briefcases, and you'll see the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is an underground treasure trove waiting to be
discovered.
The giant, corporate-styled buildings and rolling neon index prices outside may give the impression it should only be ventured into by investment analysts, bankers and brokers, but the reality is far from this perception.
DIFC lifestyle is something which can be enjoyed by all. A short escalator ride under the towering buildings reveal a world of restaurants, shops, beauty salons, gym, art gallery and even a place to book your next holiday.
Lifestyle
Referred to as "The Gate" — which is the large square-shaped arch in the centre of the complex next to Emirates Towers — DIFC Lifestyle is a unique mix of art and culture and stunning architecture, along with an exclusive self-contained precinct of trendy shops and chic eateries.
It's practically a cosmopolitan "city within a city" — you can probably do everything you need to do in one quick visit.
Above the surface there are endless rows of sun-drenched
coffee shops, along a calming backdrop of water fountains and breathtaking landscaping.
After a day's work, DIFC is the perfect place to meet friends over a drink or dinner. You can even buy that last- minute birthday present, flowers, courier a parcel and have a suit tailored.
Philip from Bella Donna, an Italian pasta restaurant, said: "People are slowly coming in and are very pleased with everything they discover here. We are very excited about more and more coming to enjoy the place."
Performances
But it's not all about shopping. Now, visitors can enjoy enchanting outdoor performances every weekday until
10pm, and until midnight at the weekends.
Restaurant outlets at DIFC include Yo Sushi, Bella Donna, Dome Café, Testa Rossa, the Noodle House, Lunch Box, Hediard and Subway. There are too many to mention but a few of the shopping outlets include Borders Bookshop, Paris Gallery, Emirates Computers, Marina Pharmacy and
Porsche Design.
After all that if you're still not worn out, then head to the latest branch of Fitness First or a workout or visit the the British Museum and experience Word into Art — an exhibition
celebrating the creativity of Middle Eastern artists.
