Abu Dhabi: Educationists, academicians and scholars from the UAE and around the world will gather in Abu Dhabi next month to share their expertise and showcase opportunities for higher studies abroad for pupils.
The fifth edition of the Education Interface Exhibition and the Middle East Youth Expo will be held in the capital on May 1-2, the Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday. The expo will be organised at Du Forum of Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
More than 15,000 visitors and over 100 exhibitors are expected to take part in the event, which is being held under the patronage of Lt-General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
The exhibition, which has the slogan ‘Organise, Educate, Innovate’, will showcase academic institutions and scholarship programmes for students.
Announcing details of the event at Abu Dhabi Police College, Colonel Waleed Al Shamsi, director-general of the college, said, “By sponsoring this strategic and promising exhibition, the Ministry of Interior confirms its commitment to fostering public-private partnership, due to their positive impact on numerous sectors.”
This is in line with the national initiatives and UAE Vision 2021. These objectives can only be realised by focusing on the education sector and the exchange of knowledge, Al Shamsi said.
The exhibition will give participants a unique opportunity to showcase their academic institutions, scholarships, financial support programmes, and other educational services to more than 15,000 visitors including school and university students aged 14 to 21 and their parents, along with many influential figures from the higher education sector.
Speaking to Gulf News, Dr Karima Mattar Al Mazroui, executive director of School Curriculum Division in the Department of Education and Knowledge of Abu Dhabi, said, “To enhance the education sector of the UAE, we have already started assessing the existing teachers in public and private schools of the country. Now they have to qualify the Ministry of Education’s test to obtain a teaching licence.
“Such licensing is already prevalent in European countries. We aim to introduce it here, too, to provide quality education to pupils of the UAE,” Al Mazroui said.
Such exhibitions and gathering of academicians aim to develop a new generation of young leaders in the country, she said.
Dr Lamya Fawwaz, executive director of Brand and Strategic Initiatives at Masdar, said, “One of Masdar’s key objectives is to develop a new generation of young leaders in renewable energy and sustainable development.”
