Dubai: Passengers departing at Cairo International Airport in Egypt will now get to enjoy a premium lounge that is equipped with a business centre, shower facilities and other luxurious amenities, courtesy of Emirates.

The UAE-based carrier on Thursday announced the opening of the $3.6 million facility that will cater to both first class and business class flyers, as well as some of the airline’s loyal customers.

The  airline’s 42nd dedicated lounge across its global network is located at the second level of Departure Terminal 2, above the secondary security check and Duty Free area of Cairo airport.

With the lounge, premium Emirates ticket holders can now look forward to “relaxing, unwinding and enjoying award-winning service and cuisine” prior to boarding their flight.

Emirates operates a number of passenger lounges at various airports around the world, including Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing Birmingham, Boston, Brisbane, Cape Town, Colombo, Delhi, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Hamburg, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Manchester and Melbourne, among others.

At Dubai International alone, there are at least seven Emirates lounges.

About the lounge in Cairo

The passenger lounge covers an area of 880 square metres and can accommodate up to 152 flyers. If offers luxurious facilities and amenities, including LED TVs, leather armchairs, bespoke artwork and separate male and femal prayer rooms.

Customers can opt to enjoy a selection of luxury spa products or sample an extensive menu of complimentary hot and cold gourmet buffet, as well as local and international dishes and beverage service.

There are shower facilities inside the lounge, as well as a business centre equipped with touch screen workstations, along with complimentary Wi-Fi service.

The lounge is also open to platinum and gold members of Emirates’ Skywards loyalty programme.
