Internet giant acquires Dubai website Maktoob
Dubai: A delegation comprising Jerry Yang, co-founder and former CEO of Yahoo, called on His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Thursday.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was present at the meeting.
The meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation between Dubai Internet City and Yahoo and discussed the company's investment plans in the region.
Yang said he considered Dubai the best and more feasible gateway for the company's regional operations.
Yang briefed Shaikh Mohammad on Yahoo's move to acquire Dubai's website Maktoob, reflecting the company's keenness to enhance software development in Arabic in the Middle East.
Yang praised the level of infrastructure in Dubai Internet City.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.
