Entrepreneurs vital to country's future

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended the Higher Colleges of Technology Second Biennial HCT-MIT Global Entrepreneurship Conference yesterday at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

The two-day event brought together more than 38 entrepreneurs and educators from all over the world. It was organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the HCT.

Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of HCT, chaired the event and stressed the vitality of entrepreneurship for the continuous development of the country's economy.

He said: "Entrepreneurship enhances creativity and innovation, raises productivity and promotes efficiency and competition in the market place."

The event comprised workshops and discussion sessions that covered entrepreneurship and global business, role of policy and venture capital and critical success factors for entrepreneurship.

Keynote speakers included Azim Hasim Premji, Chairman of Wipro.
