Al Mansoori Specialised Engineering has introduced a what it claims to be a "revolutionary" light-weight air-conditioned offshore slickline unit for the international oil and gas industry.

Made of aluminium and weighing less than 3,000 pounds, the two-man units can be moved by helicopter.

This overcomes the traditional problem of how to provide fast and flexible delivery.

The units are also air-conditioned and pressurised to ensure a comfortable working environment in some of the industry's harshest weather conditions.

The three units, which have a Zone 2 fire safety rating, were custom-designed and built in Abu Dhabi by Lee Specialties Middle East.

They have been commissioned by Total Abu Al Bukhoosh for the UAE's Abu Al Bukhoosh offshore oilfield.

Ahmad Jaber, general manager of Al Mansoori Wireline Services, a subsidiary of Al Mansoori Specialised Engineering, said: "We believe we have created a product which will have a major impact on the oil and gas industry, providing a rapid response to client needs and improving working conditions."

Al Mansoori Specialised Engineering is a major regional provider of oilfield services in the Middle East.

Established in Abu Dhabi in 1977, Al Mansoori Specialised Engineering now has more than 900 employees working in 15 countries providing a variety of oilfield services.
