Abu Dhabi: The chief executive of the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco), Ali Rashid Al Jarwan will head a high-level delegation to the US to take part in the upcoming Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) at Texas being held from May 6-9, it was announced by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) here on Thursday.

“The offshore oil and gas industry, particularly offshore technology is a key focus area for us. As such, OTC is considered an ideal platform for us to keep abreast with the latest advancements in technology and innovative solutions,” said Al Jarwan.

“Furthermore, our participation in such a premier event is part of our global presence within the oil and gas industry; thus opening new channels and opportunities for new business partnerships, sharing insights and networking with experts from around the world,” he added.

The delegation will comprise senior executives from Adnoc and its group of companies. Adnoc delegates will attend the conference and other sideline events to share insights, gain technical knowledge, stimulate debate and network with experts from around the world.

Adnoc and its group of companies will be highlighting their efforts in such areas as waste management, emission reduction and zero flaring, carbon footprint, green fuels, air quality and future energy systems. The environmentally-friendly initiatives related to Adnoc’s new artificial islands project and green building initiatives will also be highlighted.

“To reach out to job-aspirants in the oil and gas industry, Adnoc will have a booth at the OTC Recruiting Now Pavilion with an eye on skilled professionals who could be potential recruits, mainly those with scarce skills, to support the growth of the Group’s business,” said Adnoc.

Adnoc’s participation in the US conference assumes significance in the light of several new engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts to be awarded by Abu Dhabi in the foreseeable future to develop its oil and natural gas sectors.

The Abu Dhabi government will evaluate companies on their technical ability when a decision is finally taken before January 2014 on foreign partnerships for onshore concessions expiring that year. The decision on foreign partners for offshore concessions is likely to be taken before their expiry in 2018.

On Tuesday, global energy major Shell said it had been chosen by Adnoc to participate in a 30-year joint venture to develop the major Bab sour gas reservoirs in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. According to media reports, Shell edged out Total to win the $10 billion Abu Dhabi sour gas deal.
