du offers cuts in overseas call rates to boost revenues

Last updated:

Dubai: Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) has announced conditional cuts in international call rates in an effort to boost its revenues from international calls.

The reduced rates can be used in the form of extra credit on recharge cards for "pay as you go" customers.

The company, with over 2.4 million mobile subscribers, will offer a maximum of 60 per cent extra credit on a Dh200 recharge card, and a minimum of 30 per cent extra credit on a Dh20 recharge card.

The campaign, called "more international" is du's latest strategy to maximise the value of money.

Farid Faraidooni, executive vice-president of Commercial at du, said, "Continuing with our innovation, we believe that 'more international' recharge option is a revolutionary industry initiative that stretches the value of every dirham."

The extra credit will have a validity of 10 to 30 days, depending on the recharge card. The "more international" credit can only be used for international voice calls.
