Shaikh Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah, yesterday inaugurated a new branch of Emirates Bank here, officials said.
"This new Emirates Bank branch, and the loans and financial assistance it can offer, represents a significant source of support for our national youth.
"It means providing them opportunities to translate their creative investment ideas into various types of small- and medium-sized economic projects," said Shaikh Hamad.
The bank's opening ceremony was attended by Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Emirates Bank Group; Saeed Ali Khamas, Chairman of the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and a number of other dignitaries.
The Emirates Bank's expansion in Fujairah will be very beneficial to the UAE community in the region because it will provide UAE national youths with new job opportunities and chances to launch promising careers in banking, said Al Tayer.
"The banking industry is extremely customer-focused, so we make every effort to provide modern, technologically advanced and customer friendly branches.
"We believe our new branch in Fujairah will demonstrate the true essence of Emirates Bank's quest to remain a leader in the banking industry," said Al Tayer.

Sulaiman Al Mazroui, head of Emirates Bank Group, told reporters that Emirates Bank is contributing significantly to the development of the financial services industry in the region.
"Our new Emirates Bank branch in Fujairah is fully equipped.
"It houses a retail banking section, a 24-hour self-service facility, and priority banking services through the Al Shaheen Club for VIPs," said Al Mazroui. A customer can access all of Emirates Bank' varied and high quality services in one visit with one teller, he said.
"Today, we felt a need for activate our Tomooh programme for financing small projects started by UAE nationals in Fujairah. This programme allows any national to obtain a Dh1 million loan for three years, without any interest, to help set up various economic projects," Al Maz-roui added.
The Tomooh programme is being activated now in Dubai and Sharjah, and it will soon begin operations in Fujairah after the bank carries out the required pre-operational analysis, he said.
Emirates Bank, with a capital of Dh50 million, provides a comprehensive range of specialised financial services including corporate and commercial banking, retail banking, investment, property development, insurance, card processing and executive training.
