Dnata, a subsidiary of Emirates Group providing air services, announced on Thursday it has acquired Tropo, a Germany-based tour operator.

The acquisition, from media group ProSiebenSat.1, marks dnata’s entry into the German market, and extends its network of travel businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia.

In a statement, dnata did not disclose the value of the deal, saying that the two parties agreed not to disclose details of the acquisition. The deal is subject to approval by authorities.

ProSiebenSat.1 has held a majority stake in Tropo since 2012, and has since used its assets to increase Tropo’s brand awareness through TV advertising.

The agreement also includes TV media volume worth “several million euros for 2018 and 2019,” dnata said.

“This acquisition enables us to enter the important and valuable German travel market, and enhances our portfolio of travel services in Europe,” Iain Andrew, divisional senior vice president for travel services at dnata, said in a statement.

“We see potential for significant synergies between Tropo and our other travel businesses around the world to provide very attractive and unique offerings to inbound and outbound travellers to and from Germany.”
