Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference 2008 (Adipec) scheduled to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) between November 3-6 will provide a platform for companies to forge significant business deals.

It is also aimed at addressing the challenges and issues facing the oil and gas industry at a time when there's a global financial crisis, said the event's organisers.

They said Adipec will offer real and practical solutions which will help shape the future policy in the Middle East and globally. It will also showcase the latest in technology, products, services and trends across the petroleum industry.

General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council, will inaugurate Adipec on November 3.

"About 1,500 exhibitors, 200 conference speakers, 2,000 conference delegates and 40,000 visitors are expected at the Adipec," a source close to the exhibition hosts told Gulf News.

There will be experts at the conference who will speak about their vision of resources and technologies spanning fossil and alternative fuels (hydrogen, meth-anol and ethanol), energy from waste and biomass, solar and nuclear energy, energy efficiency and environmental initiatives.

At the launch of the ENERGY 2030, an alternative energy conference during Adipec on November 4, the opening address will be given by Abdullah Nasser Al Suwaidi, Deputy CEO and E & P Director of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc).
