Strategy not set in stone, says Abdullah
Abu Dhabi: The UAE Government Strategy is flexible and open for development, says Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
"The cabinet will follow up with each ministry to ensure that it achieves its targets as set by the strategy, which is subject to development and change because it is not set in stone," he said.
In reply to a question about the strategy's non-reference to the UAE's foreign policy, Shaikh Abdullah said the strategy is set to face local challenges.
"Regardless of these challenges, the UAE wants peace and stability for all, which if achieved, will help in implementing the strategy and fulfilling its goals," Shaikh Abdullah said.
He also said that the UAE has made great strides towards enhancing UAE citizens in the country's politics.
The democratic process started with the election of half members of the Federal National Council (FNC). Shaikh Abdullah said that there are more steps to come.
To a question about demographic imbalance, Shaikh Abdullah said that tackling this problem required training Emiratis gradually and with the use of modern technology.
He added that the government is working to eradicate unemployment among Emiratis through training programmes and encouraging the private sector to employ UAE nationals.
