The Indian Premier League is into its 18th season, and the world’s richest franchise cricket league continues to be a breeding ground for superstars of the past, present and future. But among the headline-grabbers are a few players who have quietly made their mark in the 10-team competition — without always getting the credit or opportunities they deserve. Gulf News takes a closer look at them.

Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan has been one of the key reasons behind the franchise’s success since their debut title win. Now in his fourth year, the 28-year-old left-hander has scored 1,307 IPL runs at an average of 48.41. In his brief international career, he’s already notched up two fifties in three ODIs, with a highest score of 62.

Veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal remains one of IPL’s most consistent wicket-takers, but national call-ups continue to elude him. After picking up 18 wickets for Rajasthan Royals last season, he has now begun a new stint with Punjab Kings in IPL 18.

Gujarat Titans’ Rahul Tewatia is one of IPL’s most explosive middle-order batters, yet national selectors continue to overlook him. Known for hitting five sixes in one over off Sheldon Cottrell, he was instrumental in Gujarat’s 2022 title run.
