Bosasso: A Yemeni cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates is due to be released without ransom following negotiations between hijackers, local elders and provincial officials, a minister said on Monday.
The MV Amani was seized in the Gulf of Aden on November 25. No other details about the vessel or its crew are available.
"No ransom was paid, but after negotiations, the pirates will get off the ship soon. The Yemeni ship will be released in the coming hours," Ali Abdi Aware, state minister of the
northern province of Puntland said.
The Yemeni ambassador to Somalia was also in Puntland to facilitate the ship's release.
