Palestinian man killed at army checkpoint

Hebron: A Palestinian man who carried a knife at an army checkpoint south of the West Bank city of Hebron was shot dead on Saturday.

Israeli soldiers manning the checkpoint opened fire on Khalil Al Zaari after he ignored calls to drop his knife, an army spokeswoman said.

The man died on his way to a hospital in Israel, Israeli medics said.
