Jordan's King Abdullah urges Israel to avoid Gaza incursion

Occuppied Jerusalem: Jordan's King Abdullah has held secret talks with Israeli leaders in Amman during in which time he urged them to hold back from a large-scale incursion into the Gaza Strip, Israeli radio stations said on Thursday.

Israel Radio said an official source confirmed Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defence Minister Ehud Barak travelled secretly to Jordan where Abdullah told them he was concerned such violence could cause trouble for Jordan.

Israel has said it will not tolerate rocket fire from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. Dozens of rockets have been fired since Israel raided Gaza two weeks ago. Israel has killed at least 12 militants.
