Iran's Ahmadinejad warns against attack

Tehran: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday renewed a warning against attacks, saying that the military will "break the hands" of invaders.

"If anyone allows themselves to invade Iranian territory and its legal interests...our armed forces will break their hands before they pull the trigger," he said in a speech.

Ahmadinejad was addressing a military parade to mark the 28th anniversary of Iran's 1980-1988 war with Iraq.

"Our nation is seeking friendship and peace...but today it is not in a position to show the least flexibility towards its bullying enemies," he said.

Iran is facing a standoff with the West over its controversial nuclear programme.

The United States accuses Iran of using the programme to secretly develop nuclear weapons, a charge that Iran denies.
