Iran denies discussing Israeli ties with Riyadh

Tehran: Iran President Ahmadinejad's office has denied report that he had discussed relations with Israel during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia.

Ahmadinejad paid a short one-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday during which he met Saudi King Abdullah to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East.

The Deputy head of the Presidential Office Media Department, Ehsan Jahandidieh, on Sunday strongly rejected reports about the recent talks between Ahmadinejad and King Abdullah claiming that the two sides discussed the Arab peace plan.

Speaking to IRNA, he underlined that no reference was made to the issue during the Riyadh talks between the two heads of state.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) had reported on Sunday that in his talks with King Abdullah, President Ahmadinejad supported the Arab peace plan.

Based on the plan, approved at the Arab heads of state summit in 2002, some Arab states attending the Beirut meeting had agreed to revise relations with Tel Aviv if Israeli forces withdraw and return to the 1967 borders.
