Hamas and Fatah agree truce

Gaza: Hamas and Fatah have agreed to a truce after a series of violent clashes between the rival groups.

The peace was instigated after a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Fatah) and Prime Minister Ismail Hainyeh (Hamas), after a second day of trouble which resulted in children being injured.

The two sides have now pledges to work out problems peacefully and expel any member who uses weapons illegally.

Haniyeh said the they agreed that "dialogue is the only language to solve our differences."

Twelve people, including five children, were hurt on Tuesday after two skirmishes between the two rival factions. This included a Hamas attack on a funeral procession in the Gaza city of Khan Younuis.

Three Palestinians were also killed on Monday after a street between the rival factions.
