Egypt doesn't see Iran N-programme as main regional issue

Cairo: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's spokesman says Egypt sees Mideast peace as the region's top priority and not Iran's nuclear programme.

Israel has said Iran's nuclear ambition is the region's most pressing issue.

Sulaiman Awwad's remarks Sunday come only few days before President Barack Obama travels to the Middle East to address regional conflicts including Arab-Israeli peace and Iran.

Awwad said on Sunday that Egypt is pushing for a two-state solution for the Arab-Israeli conflict.

In recent weeks, Israeli officials has suggested that Iran's nuclear ambitions must take precedence over the peace process.
