Ramallah: Her home was demolished twice, but 62-year-old Sobhiyah Younes says if Israeli bulldozers return, she will throw herself under the wheels.
No stranger to hardship, Sobhiyah was widowed almost twenty-years ago after Israeli soldiers killed her husband. Her two sons are on Israel's most-wanted list, which means her home can be demolished as per Israeli military law. However, Sobhiyah refused to leave her land after the demolitions and due to charitable donations was able to rebuild her home twice.
"There are no words to explain the feeling to see your home being demolished before your very eyes," Sobhiyah told Gulf News. "Its gut-wrenching."
A testament to the determination so many Palestinians exercise in the face of Israeli aggression, Sobhiyah lived with her family in a tent on her land while her house was in the process of being rebuilt.
Then, they returned again and demolished her second home along with the home of her eldest son.
