GCC leaders to meet in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: GCC leaders are scheduled to hold their 10th consultation meeting in Dhahran on May 20.

The GCC leaders, who are going to meet in Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, will also attend Aramco's celebrations to mark its establishment 75 years ago.

King Abdullah is scheduled to inaugurate Aramco's establishment at its headquarters in Dhahran, which coincides with the leaders' one-day meeting.

Although the consultation summits are usually held without agenda, the leaders will largely focus on the region's hot issues especially the current developments in the Palestinian lands, the faltering peace process, the US efforts to resume talks between the Palestinians and Israelis, as well as the situation in Lebanon and Iraq and the Iranian nuclear issue.

Accomplishments

It is also expected that the leaders will touch on other issues including the Gulf common market and the accomplishments the member states have made since the GCC summit held in Qatar.
