Muscat: The ruler of Oman has asked the government to use all the means available to train the national workforce so that it can take up employment in the private sector.

Addressing a meeting of the Council of Ministers at Bait Al Baraka on Monday, Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed said that the State should utilise all means to train national manpower that would qualify citizens to join the labour market.

He also pointed out that the citizens should be given sufficient flexibility to adapt to the work culture in the private sector.

The Sultan expressed his satisfaction with the efforts made by the government and the other state sectors in implementing the plans and programmes of development, as well as the vital projects that serve the citizens and alleviate their lives in their areas of residence.

He also praised the tangible role played by various sectors, particularly in oil and gas, agricultural and fisheries, commerce and industry, tourism, transport and communications sectors to enhance sustainable growth and shift towards a productive economy.

Qaboos acknowledged the attention accorded by the government to the youth of the country and availing the opportunities granted to them to effectively contribute in the nation-building, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

In his review of regional and international developments, he said that the world has seen the extent of Oman’s sincere cooperation with other countries.
