Muscat: Oman will mark the International Day of Peace today in a function where senior officials and scholars will speak on the subject of peace, ceasefire and non-violence.
The event is jointly organised by Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, an NGO affiliated to the United Nations, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and Unicef.
Dr Juma Bin Ali Bin Juma, Manpower Minister, will be the guest of honour.
Dr Noora Al Nahedh, GCC representative of UNFPA, Dr Shaikh Khalfan Al Esry, an Islamic scholar, and Dr Said Al Kitani, deputy permanent representative to Unesco, will also attend the function.
The day is observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, according to a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.
