Manama: A 24-year-old Kuwaiti man fighting alongside Taliban has been killed in an attack by troops, his family has said.

“The young University of Kuwait student left three years ago to join Taliban and fight with them,” his relatives were quoted as saying by Al Watan daily. “When he was killed, he was buried by his fellow fighters around one week ago.”

The family received condolences on his death in their areas in the south of Kuwait, the daily said, but there was no news on how or where the Kuwaiti national was killed.

Nine days ago, Pakistan officials said that at least 22 Taliban were killed in Mehsud areas, in a bombing of “several targets to destroy Taliban hideouts, training centres and other facilities in Makeen and Sararogha.”

According to the officials, there were 17 foreigners among the 22 Taliban killed in the offensives.
