Manama: Four UAE nationals who were assaulted by a gang of six Bahrainis in Manama have been assured of the personal support of Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Two of the UAE citizens were lightly hurt in the clashes in the Zinj area, in the suburbs of Manama the capital.
According to the interior ministry, the clashes, caused by a misunderstanding, also resulted in damages to the body and windshield of the car carrying the UAE nationals.
The police did not elaborate on the nature of the misunderstanding and whether it started in Zinj.
"We want to assure you of Bahrain's popular and official support, particularly that the leaders and people of the UAE live in the heart if every Bahraini. This love for your people is profound and deep-rooted, just like the relations between our two countries," Shaikh Khalifa told the UAE nationals as he visited them at their hotel in Manama to enquire about their health.
"The people of Bahrain are highly hospitable and do not tolerate any act of aggression against anyone," Shaikh Khalifa said.
The six Bahrainis were arrested after a massive police investigation netted one of them who informed about the whereabouts of the remaining five, the interior ministry said, adding that they will face legal prosecution.
