Bahrain's King bereaved

Manama: The paternal uncle of Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa, has died, the Royal Court said.

"His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Khalifa has died and the funeral will be held after the Asr prayers," the court said on Monday in a brief statement.

Last month King Hamad had bestowed the title of His Royal Highness on Prince Mohammad in an honour that included the prime minister and the crown prince.

Prince Mohammad, the brother of the prime minister, had no political role in the country. His other brother, Shaikh Eisa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, ruled Bahrain until his death in March 1999.
