Roma: Five people were injured as a Ryanair flight made an emergency landing at Rome's Ciampino airport on Monday, an airline spokesperson said.
Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara says three passengers and two crew members were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
McNamara says the aircraft "suffered multiple bird strikes on landing" at Ciampino airport.
Airport fire official Marco Ghimenti says the jet had reported an engine problem, with birds being a "hypothesis".
The airport, on the Italian capital's southeast outskirts, was temporarily closed.
