Pristina: Nato troops have sealed the northern Kosovan border after two checkpoints were attacked by Serbs.

Customs and police posts Jarinje and Banja were set on fire by Serbs who were angry at the decision to declare independence.

Nato said it was shutting the crossings for a 24-hour period but that it might be extended.

In Pristina, Kosovan Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said the incident would not diminish Kosovan independence.

Meanwhile, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said that Kosovo would never be a sovereign nation and would remain part of Serbia forever.
