Oslo: About 1,200 people were evacuated on Tuesday from Norway's largest hotel, the Radisson SAS Plaza in central Oslo, because of a small fire, police said.
"All hotel guests and conference guests were evacuated," police commander Kjell Jan Kverme told Reuters.
"The fire has been extinguished and the fire department is now working on getting rid of the smoke and possible toxic gases," he said. There were no serious injuries.
The fire started in a storage area on the 17th floor of the 37-storey building. When the fire broke out, the hotel was full of guests for a medical conference.
"It's too early to say what caused the fire, we have to wait for results from the lab," Kverme said.
