Dutch broadcasters have blocked the showing of a film on the Quran as Iran called on European governments to block any further showing.

In Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told the IRNA news agency that the film had been broadcast on the internet with the help of a British group.

Iran called Geert Wilder's film Fitna (strife) as “heinous''. The film was posted on Thursday on Wilder's Freedom Party's website, which crashed soon afterwards.
