Local government officials believe that the recently captured crocodile could be the world's biggest and are trying to verify this
Manila: Crocodile hunters are looking for the mate of the 6.4 metre long, 1,075 kilogram reptile that was captured on Saturday in southern Philippines, TV reports said.
The crocodile has a big mate, residents said on TV yesterday.
Authorities are on the lookout for other man-eating crocodiles that could be as big as the one captured in a shallow creek in remote Bunawan town in Agusan del Sur province on Saturday, Ronald Nuer of the Bunawan Municipal Council said in a TV interview.
Nuer says that the crocodiles must be captured since students pass by dangerous bodies of water in Bunawan.
Local government officials believe that the recently captured crocodile could be the world's biggest and are trying to verify this. At the very least, it is the largest one caught in the Philippines, said the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre.
The crocodile, which has been blamed for the death of a farmer, several water buffaloes, and a 12-year-old girl will be the main attraction of a local government unit's proposed nature park.
