Manila: Police say a Filipino working for Unicef in the southern Philippines has been shot dead.

A UN spokeswoman says the incident is personal.

Police official Siegfredo Ramos says the victim, Nestor Bulahan, was aboard a motorcycle taxi to meet an acquaintance in Parang township when a gunmen fatally shot him on Thursday.

Unicef spokeswoman Angela Travis says Bulahan was not on official business at the time.
