Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani secured the unanimous approval of the National Assembly on Saturday without a vote of confidence after the opposition said it supported him.

The Pakistani constitution requires a new prime minister to secure a vote of confidence by the lower house of parliament.
However, a vote is not necessary if the opposition voices support.

Gilani is set to lead a coalition government.
