Islamabad: Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the decision to sack National Security Adviser Mahmoud Ali Durrani was taken in the best of interest of the nation and his decision was fully backed by President Asif Ali Zardari, GEO TV reported yesterday.

He expressed these views while talking to reporters after addressing a seminar on democracy in Pakistan, the report said. The prime minister said his decision to sack Durrani had president's backing.

He said the decision was made in the larger interest of the country and "being a democratic country we have ... conformity among all members of the government". Gilani said ISI director-general had briefed him on the Mumbai attack dossier India had handed over through CIA.
