Mumbai: The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) being held on Sunday will have unparalleled security arrangements following the terror attacks on the city.
About 3,000 policemen will be deployed on race day with 750 private security personnel also being engaged for support along with 1,000 volunteers at the venue as well as the entire route. In addition, armed personnel will also be deployed at the special enclosures meant for VIPs and guests.
Sniffer dogs
A command centre will be set up at the Standard Chartered Bank's nearby headquarters to constantly monitor the event. The race will start and finish opposite the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station with participants assembling at the Azad Maidan where police will have their bomb squad and sniffer dogs. Entry points to the Maidan will have door frame metal detectors with security men and women checking everyone entering the venue.
